Tuesday Thoughts

  • He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed.—Albert Einstein

If I Had My Child to Raise Over Again
by Diane Loomans
(author of Full Steam Ahead,100 Ways to Build Self Esteem in Children and Adults copyright 1994)

If I had my child to raise all over again,I'd finger-paint more and point the finger less

I'd do less correcting and more connecting.

I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.

I would care to know less and know to care more.

I'd take more hikes and fly more kites.I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play.

I'd run through more fields and gaze at more stars.

I'd do more hugging and less tugging.

I would be firm less often, and affirm much more.I'd build self-esteem first, and the house later.

I'd teach less about the love of power,

And more about the power of love.

  • One generation plants the trees; another gets the shade.—Chinese Proverb
  • When I approach a child, he inspires in me two sentiments; tenderness for what he is, and respect for what he may become.—Louis Pasteur
  • Peace and war begin at home. If we truly want peace in the world, let us begin by loving one another in our own families. If we want to spread joy, we need for every family to have joy.—Mother Teresa
  • Before you were conceived I wanted you. Before you were born I loved you Before you were here an hour I would die for you This is the miracle of life.—Maureen Hawkins

Today is going to be busy. I can only share this with you today...........It's only Tuesday at Camp Neena and each night this week I have snuggled tightly and fallen asleep in the arms of a trusting child. I have danced around with the innocent sound of a precious child's laughter, answered daily "Why's" with what little I have come to know of life, and listened to the most honest prayers break through the gates of Heaven. Just some thoughts from Neena ~ 2007
